April 2015 PopSugar Must Have Box

all natural soy wax produce candles charleston sc

Produce Candles Rhubarb Spring Candle, $20

This candle smells amazing! I have not burned it yet. To be honest I am not a candle type of girl. I am more of a plug in or oil diffusing type of a girl. But this candle smells so delightful that I have to burn it! I am currently using an oil diffuser that I got from March’s PopSugar Box and when the diffuser is finished I will burn this candle! $20 does seem like a bit much for a candle but I am not a candle aficionado so maybe $20 is reasonable, is it?

one love organics gardenia tea antioxidant body serum

One Love Organics Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum, $39

This is a body serum that you put on after you get out of the shower to lock in the moisture and then top it off with a moisturizer or sunscreen. It has a light fresh garden like smell. I can’t tell if I like the smell or not (is that weird? haha).  I don’t have the time to use this body serum everyday but I will try to incorporate this body serum into my at-home spa days. I am not sure if I would pay $39 for a body serum since it is not a stand alone product it requires you to put another product on top. I also go through body products a lot so I’m not sure I would want to re-up regularly on a $39 body serum. I mean if this product turns out to be amazing then I’d pay an arm and a leg every month..maybe haha.

reusable bag flip tumble

Flip + Tumble Reusable Bag, $12

I was so happy to get this because I carry a reusable Whole Foods bag in my purse everyday because I randomly will go grocery shopping throughout the week. I like this Flip + Tumble Reusable Bag because it is compact so it’s lighter and takes up less space! I will say $12 for a reusable bag seems a little high.

basil culinary herb garden in a bag

Garden In a Bag Organic Basil, $10

This is a cool idea! You basically grow basil in a bag. I have always wanted to grow something, flowers, herbs or whatever but I didn’t know where to begin. The instructions aren’t as easy as cut bag and add water so I haven’t used it yet. But hopefully one of these weekends I’ll will just read the instructions and do it!

Dabney Lee Umbrella

Dabney Lee Umbrella, $20

I am most excited about this umbrella! When I received this box I was actually on a hunt for a very good umbrella. This umbrella looks pretty and seems to be high quality! It has an auto close and open umbrella..so fancy.

  • PopSugar Must Have Box is a monthly lifestyle subscription box
  • It can include must-have items related to beauty, fashion, food, fitness, home…
  • Includes full size items!
  • Worth of the box is about $100
  • Costs $39.95/monthly

Overall I think this box was okay. I am most excited about the umbrella and everything else is pretty good. The box also came with a $25 gift card to Mott. Mott sells clothing that protects you from the sun. I am not very excited about the gift card just because I did not see anything at Mott that I would want to purchase. But if your into sun protecting clothing you might enjoy what they offer. I do want to tell you guys that I have decided to unsubscribe to PopSugar. PopSugar has amazing high quality boxes but I love beauty products and PopSugar is more of a lifestyle box. Right now in my life I really prefer beauty subscriptions. I might subscribe to PopSugar again or check in to see what is in the monthly boxes and just buy the products that interest me.

The total value of this box is about $100.00

Cocotique Beauty Box (April 2015)

cocotique april 2015

  • Cocotique is a monthly beauty subscription box
  • It can include makeup, hair, skin & nail products
  • Sometimes includes deluxe samples and full size products
  • Worth of the bag is about $50-$85
  • Costs $20/monthly

Products in April 2015 Box (Theme: Rebirth & Renewal)

harvey prince perfume

Shea Moisture Renewal Shampoo & Hair Masque Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System

Harvey Prince Journey Perfume

nude deep conditioner

Dermae Soothing Moisturizing Creme

Nude Hydrating & Nourishing Deep Conditioner

acai brazallian dry oil

Trinity Butta

Acai Brazillian Dry Oil

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara

Here is what I got in my April box! Let me give you a quick run down on the products and my thoughts on them! I am a huge fan of Shea Moisture so I am so excited that there is a sample in this box! I have a lot of hair so single foil packets on their own are usually not enough for my long, thick super kinky hair so I combine different hair foil packets to make a custom deep conditioner. Click here to see how I do that! I blogged about it! The Harvey Prince perfume smells amazing! Love it! Cocotique has sent us the Nude deep conditioner before and I love this stuff. I use it on my leave out as a deep conditioner since it is so moisturizing and my leave out tends to get very very dry. I passed along the Dermae samples to a friend just because my skincare draw is overflowing with skincare foil samples, ( I have a problem haha). I am excited to try the Trinity Butta and the Acai Brazillan Dry Oil! I’ve never heard of a dry oil before it sounds cool. I believe Cocotique sent us a Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara in a previous box but I am not totally sure. Again my mascara draw is overflowing so I passed this along to a friend. I am totally that friend that likes to pass along certain items from my beauty boxes. I’m like, “Hey! My Cocotique box came. I love their boxes so much! I have too many mascaras want this one they sent this month!?” My friends are lucky to have me!

Ipsy Bag April 2015

  • It can include makeup, hair, skin & nail products
  • Sometimes includes deluxe samples and full size products
  • Worth of the bag is about $30-$50
  • Costs $10/monthly

The March bag is called Beautifully Bohemian. This bag is so cute! I love the design. I will definitely be using this bag to go to the beach or to hold any loose items in my bag.

Here are the products I got in my Ipsy bag!

Left to Right

Pandora’s Makeup Box Pink Carnation Blush

theBalm Cosmetics Nude Dude Eye Shadow Single

Theorie Argan Oil Ultimate Reform Serum

Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint

Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess Mascara

ipsy bag april 2015

The Ipsy bag this month is really hit or miss to me because there are some products I got that I really like and others that I know I will not use. I swatched the Pandora’s Blush and it is not flattering on my skin tone so I have thrown it in the pile of makeup I will be gifting to friends and family. The Essence mascara will also be thrown in that pile only because Essence tends to use ingredients in their products that I am allergic to. I am actually super bummed that I can’t use this because people have been raving about it online. Now on to the stuff I’m really feeling. theBalm eyeshadow in the color flirty is a light gold bronzey shade that is right up my alley! I have swatched the tinted lip balm and I like the color and the thickness of it. I have been struggling with dry lips since winter so I welcome any moisturizing lip products.  I love trying hair serums and I will try using the Theorie hair serum in my hair extensions and natural hair! I am happy we did not receive any foil packets or nail polishes (because I wear gel nails) but I am disappointed that the blush was not a good color for me. Also I feel like I have so many mascara samples piling up in my makeup collection so I rather not get mascaras unless it’s  a hyped up mascara like Benefit’s Roller Lash but I couldn’t even use the Essence mascara from this bag since I am allergic to it womp womp!

March 2015 PopSugar Must Have Box

march 2015 popsugar box

  • PopSugar Must Have Box is a monthly lifestyle subscription box
  • It can include must-have items related to beauty, fashion, food, fitness, home…
  • Includes full size items!
  • Worth of the box is about $100
  • Costs $39.95/monthly

Themes for the March 2015 PopSugar Must Have Box: Renewal, Citrus, Spring Break, Fresh, Traveling.

popsugar micro magic

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara, deluxe sample set

I have been seeing this mascara everywhere on the internet. I am excited to try it! It’s suppose to be an “ultracurling” mascara.

Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional, deluxe sample set

Surprisingly I haven’t tried this primer before. I have huge pores and texture on my skin so I am happy to try this!

Bliss Micromagic Microdermabrasion Treatment, $48

This is a face exfoliate and I am an exfoliate junkie. I love trying new ones!

half pps halfpopped popcorn

Halfpops Halfpopped Popcorn, $1.69

These look tasty but you guys know that I am generally a clean eater so I passed this along to my mother.

Wet Brush The Squirt, $4.99

I am excited to try this. I won’t be using it on my natural hair ( I only use wide tooth combs on my natural hair) but, I will try this on my wet kinky straight extensions.

Knock Knock What to Pack Pad, $7

This is a pad that gives you a list of things to pack. I always print out packing lists from online but next time I travel I will whip this bad boy out!

The Archivist Lemon Cucumber

Greenmarket Purveying Co. The Archivist Lemon + Cucumber Reed Diffuser Kit, $20

I have this diffusing in my room right now and it is such a nice scent, very spring! I have never used a diffuser before I usually use plug ins because I am scared of candles. But I am now a diffuser lover!

Samudra Pink Pina Zip Pouch, $40

This is a hot pink zip pouch that is see through. I can see myself using this for toiletries for when I am traveling!

I  feel the spring vibe in this box. It’s not an overwhelming vibe but I feel it.  I love the Lemon + Cucumber Reed Diffuser Kit. I am most excited for that product. I am also really happy to try out the Bliss Microdermabrasion Treatment which I will use during my at home spa days. I am intrigued by the Wet Brush because it can be quite difficult to comb my kinky straight extensions when they are wet so I hope the brush will help me out. The other 3 products did not grab me as much. I avoid eating popcorn, I liked the idea of the What to Pack Pad but honestly I do not really travel that much to get great use out of it. Although I will use the Samudra Pouch I am not obsessed with the design and I am trying to wrap my head around how the pouch is worth $40. I need to research the brand more to see why it is so expensive. Who would have thought, me the health and beauty lover would be most excited about the diffuser kit in this box haha!

The total value of this box is about $121.68

The March bag is called Floral Fantasy, perfect for the spring time. I need more spring themed things in my life right now because Boston weather is so up and down. I need weather stability!

Crown Brush Oval Concealer Brush (C224)

Pur~lisse Beauty Pur~delicate Gentle Soymilk Cleanser & Makeup Remover

Milani Cosmetics Color Statement Nail Lacquer (Doll Face)

ipsy bag march 2015 review

I am happy with the products I received. I can use and will use all of these products. Sometimes the products in Ipsy bags do not mesh well with deep skin or kinky hair but this bag has products I feel like anyone can use. I am most excited about the NYX butter lipstick, the color and formula is so me! I am also happy about the Pur~lisse cleanser and makeup remover. I love products like that it makes taking off makeup so easy! You guys know you could fry Popeye’s chicken on my face  I have very oily skin so I am always down to try a mattifying primer. My holy grail primer right now is the Becca Ever Matte Poreless Primer but I’m still willing to date other primers. I mean there is no harm in a date and movie with Dr Brandt’s anti-aging mattifying lotion, right? haha. You guys know I am a salon gel nail junkie so I do not get a lot of use out of traditional nail polishes but this Milani nail polish in this bag seems like it has a nice formula (when swatched) and the color is so me! So I might have to throw it on my nails this spring or summer on one of my off gel nail weeks. Ipsy also included a concealer brush which it looks like it can be used for spot concealing. I do not do much spot concealing but this looks like a nice brush so I’ll use it when the time arises.
