The Ipsy bag this month is really hit or miss to me because there are some products I got that I really like and others that I know I will not use. I swatched the Pandora’s Blush and it is not flattering on my skin tone so I have thrown it in the pile of makeup I will be gifting to friends and family. The Essence mascara will also be thrown in that pile only because Essence tends to use ingredients in their products that I am allergic to. I am actually super bummed that I can’t use this because people have been raving about it online. Now on to the stuff I’m really feeling. theBalm eyeshadow in the color flirty is a light gold bronzey shade that is right up my alley! I have swatched the tinted lip balm and I like the color and the thickness of it. I have been struggling with dry lips since winter so I welcome any moisturizing lip products.  I love trying hair serums and I will try using the Theorie hair serum in my hair extensions and natural hair! I am happy we did not receive any foil packets or nail polishes (because I wear gel nails) but I am disappointed that the blush was not a good color for me. Also I feel like I have so many mascara samples piling up in my makeup collection so I rather not get mascaras unless it’s  a hyped up mascara like Benefit’s Roller Lash but I couldn’t even use the Essence mascara from this bag since I am allergic to it womp womp!

ipsy bag march 2015 review

I am happy with the products I received. I can use and will use all of these products. Sometimes the products in Ipsy bags do not mesh well with deep skin or kinky hair but this bag has products I feel like anyone can use. I am most excited about the NYX butter lipstick, the color and formula is so me! I am also happy about the Pur~lisse cleanser and makeup remover. I love products like that it makes taking off makeup so easy! You guys know you could fry Popeye’s chicken on my face  I have very oily skin so I am always down to try a mattifying primer. My holy grail primer right now is the Becca Ever Matte Poreless Primer but I’m still willing to date other primers. I mean there is no harm in a date and movie with Dr Brandt’s anti-aging mattifying lotion, right? haha. You guys know I am a salon gel nail junkie so I do not get a lot of use out of traditional nail polishes but this Milani nail polish in this bag seems like it has a nice formula (when swatched) and the color is so me! So I might have to throw it on my nails this spring or summer on one of my off gel nail weeks. Ipsy also included a concealer brush which it looks like it can be used for spot concealing. I do not do much spot concealing but this looks like a nice brush so I’ll use it when the time arises.

ipsy love bag

If you remember I was not blown away by Ipsy’s January bag. I thought the bag was okay but I wanted to be wowed more. Now for the February bag I enjoyed it a lot more. I really liked the fragrance and the blush looks like a color I would like (I have not tried it yet). I have oily skin so I an weary about putting face oil on my face but I’ll give it a try. The NYX pencil is pretty. I am not sure how I am going to use this pencil but I am down to fool around with it. I gifted the City Color lipstain because I believe it has the ingredient carmine in it or one of those ingredients in lip products that a lot of people are allergic to so I decided to be cautious and skip it. I get irritation on my lips when I use lippies with carmine in it. I’m pretty satisfied with what I got from Ipsy this month. I would give this bag a B-.

Ipsy Bag January 2015

  • Worth of the bag is about $30-$50

This month’s bag is called Fresh Start, which is very appropriate since it’s January, the month when people try to start the year with a clean slate! I really like the color of this bag one side is blue and the other is white (very cute Ipsy!).

My bag included a lip product, makeup brush, 2 eye shadows and a moisturizer. I am really happy that I did not get anything for my hair because Ipsy does not usually send hair samples that can be used for thick, long, coily, kinky hair.I am also happy I didn’t get a nail polish because I have so many and I mainly wear gel nails.

ipsy february bag

Honesty is the best policy. I was underwhelmed with this bag this month partly because I also subscribe to Cocotique and PopSugar which are two AMAZEBALLS subscription services and because non of these products are exciting to me. It’s not a bad bag this month I’m just in between about the products. I’m still curious to see what will be in the February bag. Most of the time Ipsy rocks my socks so lets see what the other bags will be like this year! All in all I would give this bag a C.

December 2014 Ipsy Bag

ipsy bag december 2014

Here is the December 2014 Ipsy Bag that all the products came in this month. It is a basic black bag with pink hardware. I was expecting a winter themed bag with sparkles, glitter and snowflakes more like the November 2014 Ipsy Bag. But, this month’s bag is a standard black that goes with anything I guess! This month’s bag is called Thinking of You.

December Ipsy Bag 2014

I like this bag this month mainly because there is a nice variety of products and because I can use every single one. Bravo Ipsy! I am most excited about the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara and the eye cream. I am actually really into trying new eye creams (random, right? haha). The total cost of items in an Ipsy Bag usually range from $30-$50 roughly. I would give this month’s bag a solid A.
