Healthy eating seems to get a bad rep for being very expensive. I will admit as a single person some of my Whole Foods weekly trips can rack up to $100! But that is mainly because I am either overbuying or getting all the bells and whistles. Personally, as a clean eater and single person I spend $50-$75 weekly on groceries. I shop at Whole Foods and sometimes at Trader Joe’s, Starmarket and Stop & Shop (local grocery chains in New England). However, a couple weeks ago as an experiment I decided that I would go to Trader Joes & Star Market and try my best to spend only $25.
So here is what I got, my tips and meal prep for this haul!
My Grocery List!
- Frozen Berry Medley
- Luna Bars (My must have! It helped me lose 37lbs! Available now on Amazon!)
- 1 Grapefruit
- Turkey Breast Slices

- Ground Beef
- Chicken Wings
My Quick Tips!
- Eat the healthy food you already have at home (duh! haha)
- Buy the bare minimum that you need at affordable grocery stores
- Be creative!
- Look for sales and generic items
- Plan ahead, set a budget and stick to it!

Keep in mind I had a few groceries at home and I assume you are not going grocery shopping with an empty kitchen! Your list will range depending on what you already have at home. This technique can work for a range of people but will really be helpful for healthy eaters who have bits and bobs of healthy food in their kitchen! Also you can switch up the order of the meals. I personally do not mind eating the same meal for 1 to 3 days. Good Luck meal prepping!
