How I use the cleanser:

I only use this cleanser at night because it has gylcolic acid in it which is sensitive to sunlight. At night I remove my makeup with a makeup wipe and Vaseline. Then I use a Biore cleanser with my Olay facial brushe to remove any remaining makeup. After that I apply the Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid 3% Facial Wash to wet skin and I massage it in. I personally leave the cleanser on my skin for 3-5 minutes so the glycolic acid can really get into my skin. I then take my Olay Facial Brush and work up a lather on my face. Then I will rinse off my face with lukewarm water.

My thoughts:

I love this cleanser. It leaves my skin feeling clean and it is a great exfoliator. I have very textured skin and this is the only product that helps minimize my texture. Normally I would have to go get a facial to get rid of bumps on my face but this product helps minimize bumps. It has helped to even my skin tone and lighten dark spots. I swear (even though I’m only in my twenties) my skin looks more young and fresh! I feel like my skin looks healthier! This product is $38 it is a little pricey but it’s 8.5 fl oz so you get a decent amount of product and a little goes a long way. The packaging is so sleek and modern. I also really like the cap because you can squeeze out the amount of product you want so you won’t waste any product! The cleanser is for all skin types and it worked really well with my oily skin. It’s a gel consistency but foams when water is added to it. The cleanser creates a great lather when used with water and a facial brush. I have to say I truly love this cleanser. At night I use this cleanser and I follow up with Peter Thomas Roth serums and moisturizers and I wake up to bright smoother skin. Just remember to use a sunscreen when you are in the sun when using this product! All in all I love this cleanser and I highly recommend it! Buy it on Amazon!

Why is sunscreen so important?

Being out in the sun can increase your risk of getting skin cancer and early skin aging. Sunscreen helps to protect your skin from the sun. So apply sunscreen of at least SPF 15 everyday! It also helps prevent sunburns!

bottom half sunscreen

How I use the sunscreen:

First I cleanse and tone my face. After I apply the sunscreen. Sometimes I wait a few minutes to let the sunscreen abosorb into my skin before applying my moisturizer but most of the time I apply my moisturizer right after I apply the sunscreen. I then follow up with eye cream and apply my makeup. I do not reapply the sunscreen through out the day because I usually have makeup on.

My thoughts:

Overall, I really like this sunscreen. It hasn’t broken me out (Btdubs! I have acne-prone skin), it does not smell bad and the formula is not too greasy so it absorbs into the skin pretty nicely. I have deep skin so I can not say how well this sunscreen does at preventing sunburns. However, I have noticed that my dark marks have not been getting darker so that might be because of the sunscreen or because I am using other products that help with brightening and evening my face, who knows! My skin complexion on my face is getting darker because I am getting tanner but I am not getting as dark as I usually get in comparison to last summer where I did not wear sunscreen at all. That is saying a lot because since I am an early education teacher I spend half of my days outside in the summer so you would think I would be like 20 shades darker but I’m not. I have gotten darker but not as dark as usual and I do not even reapply the sunscreen. Usually, I like to get as dark as possible in the summer because it evens out my skin tone and I love deep chocolate skin but lately I have been trying to block the sun because I don’t want it to damage my skin and I don’t want to get too dark for the foundations and concealers that I already own. Speaking of makeup I will say this sunscreen makes my foundations look a little light in photos. The ingredients in most sunscreens will do that. Also this sunscreen leaves my skin with a blueish white cast but my moisturizer usually gets rid of that.  I have oily skin and this sunscreen does not leave my skin oily and does not make my makeup oily. Oh yeah beauties, keep this sunscreen away from your eyes! It will sting them like no other! But I will say beauties I do like this sunscreen and when it runs out I will repurchase it since the price is good, it does not break me out and it seems to be blocking the sun! Buy it on Amazon!

Skin Care and Makeup Check-list

(Me!! with a full face!)

For some reason I feel like I need more time to get ready in the morning. When I wake up for work I  try to do my makeup in less than 30 minutes and I sometimes forget to apply at least one product. Getting ready to go out on a date or going to the mall is always hard for me because I am thinking about so many things. What to wear? When will the train leave? How much money should I bring? I inevitably will skip a step on my makeup routine due to my brain being on overload.

When I skip a step or a product it doesn’t tremendously alter the look or wear of my makeup but, I have so much makeup and I watch so many make-up tutorials that I feel as though I am doing myself and my wallet an injustice if I do not complete my entire look with all the products needed.

Thus, I have created a Skin-Care & Make-up Check-list so that I will never forget a step. I hope you guys find this useful in developing your personal routine.

D.I.Y Ice Cucumber Pads

I saw this D.I.Y beauty project on Michelle Phan’s YouTube Channel, http://www.michellephan.com/post/diy-ice-cucumber-pads

Ice Cucumber Pads are really easy to make and they are a very inexpensive home remedy. They hydrate your eyes and reduce puffiness and dark circles. After you make them you just put them on your eyes for 10 minutes and you will feel the difference!

So, let’s get started.

1. Paper Towels or Beauty Pads

2. Water

3. Blender or Juicer

4. Cucumber

5. Ziploc Bags

Slice cucumber into 2 pieces or as many as you would like. If your blender or juicer is weaker I would slice the cucumbers into smaller pieces.

Put the cucumbers in a blender with water.

Blend the cucumber slices and water until it looks like this. You want it to be liquid without any chunks.

Cut paper towels in square shapes that will cover your eye space. You can layer the paper towels to make them stronger. If you have beauty pads then you can skip this step.

Dip the paper towels or beauty pads if the cucumber water until it is completely soaked. Then place it in the ziploc bags. Spread the pads out so they do not freeze together.

Now put the ziploc bags in the freezer and lay them flat. After an hour they will be ready for use. Place them on your eyes for 10mins and you will fall in love with this beauty remedy!

You will have extra cucumber juice. I put the extra in a jar and leave it in the fridge until I am ready to make my next batch.

I hope you guys enjoy this easy D.I.Y beauty project.
