$25 weekly grocery budget!

affordable clean eating

Healthy eating seems to get a bad rep for being very expensive. I will admit as a single person some of my Whole Foods weekly trips can rack up to $100! But that is mainly because I am either overbuying or getting all the bells and whistles. Personally, as a clean eater and single person I spend $50-$75 weekly on groceries. I shop at Whole Foods and sometimes at Trader Joe’s, Starmarket and Stop & Shop (local grocery chains in New England). However, a couple weeks ago as an experiment I decided that I would go to Trader Joes & Star Market and try my best to spend only  $25.

spend 25 a week on groceries

Keep in mind I had a few groceries at home and I assume you are not going grocery shopping with an empty kitchen! Your list will range depending on what you already have at home. This technique can work for a range of people but will really be helpful for healthy eaters who have bits and bobs of healthy food in their kitchen! Also you can switch up the order of the meals. I personally do not mind eating the same meal for 1 to 3 days. Good Luck meal prepping!

    • So true! I’m single so I can get away with only spending $25 a week but I usually spend around $50 to $75 so I can get the fancy stuff. Crockpot recipes save a bunch, you are so right. I also cook a lot of chicken when I am trying to save money. It’s so cheap!

  1. Could also buy the things you know you use a lot in bulk. Like I buy the meets in larger quantities, separate them into specific servings and freeze them. I also buy my oatmeal and other carbs in larger quantities so that the only thing I’m really buying consistently is fresh fruits and veggies. Yay! Meal prep

    • That is so true! I just started buying in bulk. I buy my oatmeal in bulk and yogurt and cottage cheese for the week in bulk. I try to keep my fruits and veggies fresh but lately I have been buying frozen kale and steaming it for dinner just because I don’t have to worry about it going bad and it’s already chopped! I buy salmon in bulk too whenever it is on sale at Whole Foods I stock up! High five for meal prepping!
