May & April 2014 Ipsy Bags

May 2014 Ipsy Bag

Ipsy Bag April 2014Here is the May 2014 Ipsy Bag that all the products came in this month. This month’s bag is called Beauty’s Fresh Picks. I’m generally not a fan of earthy style bags. I prefer sleek and modern looks, so I’m not crazy about this month’s bag design womp womp!

hey honey take it off exfoliating honey peel off mask

Take it Off! Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask

I’m not a huge fan of peel off masks but I will give this one a try. I wish the sample was a little bit bigger.

Purlisse hydra-balance moisturizer

Pur~lisse Pur~Moist Hydra-Balance Moisturizer

I like trying out new moisturizers but this lotion was formulated for normal-dry skin and you guys know I have very oily skin! I might use this in the winter time when my skin is a bit dryer.

balanced guru hair oil no friz oil

No Frizz Organic Sesame and Lemongrass  Balancing  Hair Oil

I do not like the smell, however this is the product I am most excited to use. I plan to try it out on my wigs/weaves 1st to see how it works and if it passes the test I will then use it on my natural hair as a sealant.

Hang Ten 50 Classic SPort Natural Suncreen

Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF50

I have always wanted a sunscreen of spf 50 so I am excited to see this. No ma’am will I attempt to put this on my face, I do not want to look like a ghost in photos and high spfs usually give my skin a blue tinge. I plan on using this on my neck, shoulders and the back of my hands.

pacifica eyeshadow natural beauty

Pacifica Eyeshadow Duo in Natural Beauty

Pacifica makes some of my favorite perfumes, but I can do without these eye shadows. The packaging looks/feels inexpensive, the colors are nothing to write home about and I do not feel like the eye shadow fits the theme of the ipsy bag this month (products for hot weather?) I plan on giving away this eye shadow..

Overall:

I like the theme of this month’s products. I felt like the products were aimed toward combating hot weather beauty issues; there was the hair oil to combat frizz, sunscreen to combat the sun & two skin products to whip your skin in shape so you don’t have to cover you skin in makeup when it’s hot outside. Then there was the eye shadow… which as I said earlier did not fit the theme of the bag and I’m curious to know how that product made it into my bag lol. Overall, I would give the bag a solid B+. I plan on using all of the products except for the eye shadow. I do want to mention that a lot of the products in this bag are quite expensive. I love receiving samples of high end products because I get a chance to try it before I spend the big bucks on the product. The total cost of the items inside the bag: is about $49

April 2014 Ipsy Bag

 april ipsy bag

Here is the April 2014 Ipsy Bag that all the products came in this month. This month’s bag is called Beauty Rock. This isn’t my preferred style of a bag but it’s still cute.

urban decay eye pencil

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil Travel Size

It’s unfair to put this pencil in my Ipsy bag because no pencil can beat my favorite black drugstore Rimmel Scandal Eyes pencil haha. I’ve swatched the Urban Decay pencil, it’s a little dry, I was not impressed but I will give it a try.

big sexy hair

Sexy Hair Root Pump Volumizing Spray Mousse

I only use mousse when I have cornrows or curly weaves/wigs. I never use it in my natural hair and I do not plan on using mousse in my natural hair. I am rocking a straight wig right now so I do not have much use for the mousse but I always like to have mousse in my collection for when I need it.

cailyn lip balm

Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm

Long story short, I put this on my lips, it was dry and I did not care for the color. A few hours later I had a bump on my lip so I threw away the product. This lip balm was not for me haha.

city color white gold

City Color White Gold Shadow & Highlight Mousse

This color is truly pretty. It really is a white gold shadow. However, this product did not flatter me when I put it on my eyelids or cheek area. I might try it as a body highlighter.

dr brandt microdermabrasion

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion

I haven’t tried this yet, but I am always done to try out a new facial scrub! Bring on the scrubs!

Overall:

This month’s Ipsy bag was nothing to write home about. I think the only two products that interest me are the black pencil and facial scrub. This bag was just “ehh” for me this month. Overall, I would give the bag a solid C+. I plan on using all the products but I do not see myself incorporating any of them into my beauty regimen. The total cost of the items inside the bag: is about $45.

Khroma Beauty “SheBang” Eye shadow Palette (Swatches)

I bought the Khroma Beauty “Shebang” Quick Transformation Set awhile ago..I want to say almost a year ago, but I am not sure. The eye shadow palette in this post came with the Quick Transformation Set along with an eye pencil, eye shadow applicator and lashes.

I purchased the Khroma Beauty “Shebang” Quick Transformation Set (that came with the palette featured in this post) for about $15 at the Walgreens in Chinatown in Boston, MA.

I haven’t used this palette that often, but I do enjoy the colors but I wish there was at least one matte eye shadow. Also the eye shadows do not show up that well on my skin tone, womp..womp.. I have to put on a white base before applying these colors.

Do you have this palette? How do you like it?

February 2014 Ipsy Bag

ipsy february bag

Here is the February 2014 Ipsy Bag that all the products came in this month. This month’s bag is called The Look of Love. I like the color of the bag, it is such a cute girly pink. I am going away next weekend and I am totally using this as my travel makeup bag!

tini beauty eyshadow base spiced rum

tinit beauty spiced rum swatch

Tini Beauty Eyetini Cordial Cream Shadow & Base In One Spiced Rum + (Swatch)

I absolutely love gold eye shadows! I also love that this product is not only an eye shadow but also a base.

jcat eyelashes eyelash glue

J.Cat Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue EL 213

Although I do not wear lashes often I still appreciate having some in my collection. I don’t care for the eyelash glue that comes with these lashes. I usually only use DUO.

pop beauty lip gloss

pop beauty lio gloss fuchsia freesiaPop Beauty Lip gloss in Fushsia Freesia + (Swatch)

I really like the formula of this lip gloss and it shows up on my very pigmented lips!

Zoya odette

Zoya Nail Polish Odette

I love this color! It’s one of those nail polish colors that seems appropriate during all seasons.

skine rescue deep cleanser with red clay

red clay cleanser

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay + (Swatch)

I also enjoy trying out new face cleansers. This cleanser seems very unique since it has red clay (I’ve never heard of red clay..). I look forward to trying it.

Overall:

I really liked the bag this month. I am excited to experiment with these products. Overall, I would give this bag an A+. I plan to use every product in this bag. The products given have a nice variety, of makeup, nail polish and skin care. I like the colors, the products have good pigmentation and a nice size (some of them are even full size!) The total cost of the items in the bag is: about $52.
