May 2014 Ipsy Bag
Here is the May 2014 Ipsy Bag that all the products came in this month. This month’s bag is called Beauty’s Fresh Picks. I’m generally not a fan of earthy style bags. I prefer sleek and modern looks, so I’m not crazy about this month’s bag design womp womp!
Take it Off! Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask
I’m not a huge fan of peel off masks but I will give this one a try. I wish the sample was a little bit bigger.
Pur~lisse Pur~Moist Hydra-Balance Moisturizer
I like trying out new moisturizers but this lotion was formulated for normal-dry skin and you guys know I have very oily skin! I might use this in the winter time when my skin is a bit dryer.
No Frizz Organic Sesame and Lemongrass Balancing Hair Oil
I do not like the smell, however this is the product I am most excited to use. I plan to try it out on my wigs/weaves 1st to see how it works and if it passes the test I will then use it on my natural hair as a sealant.
Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF50
I have always wanted a sunscreen of spf 50 so I am excited to see this. No ma’am will I attempt to put this on my face, I do not want to look like a ghost in photos and high spfs usually give my skin a blue tinge. I plan on using this on my neck, shoulders and the back of my hands.
Pacifica Eyeshadow Duo in Natural Beauty
Pacifica makes some of my favorite perfumes, but I can do without these eye shadows. The packaging looks/feels inexpensive, the colors are nothing to write home about and I do not feel like the eye shadow fits the theme of the ipsy bag this month (products for hot weather?) I plan on giving away this eye shadow..
Overall:
I like the theme of this month’s products. I felt like the products were aimed toward combating hot weather beauty issues; there was the hair oil to combat frizz, sunscreen to combat the sun & two skin products to whip your skin in shape so you don’t have to cover you skin in makeup when it’s hot outside. Then there was the eye shadow… which as I said earlier did not fit the theme of the bag and I’m curious to know how that product made it into my bag lol. Overall, I would give the bag a solid B+. I plan on using all of the products except for the eye shadow. I do want to mention that a lot of the products in this bag are quite expensive. I love receiving samples of high end products because I get a chance to try it before I spend the big bucks on the product. The total cost of the items inside the bag: is about $49

April 2014 Ipsy Bag
Here is the April 2014 Ipsy Bag that all the products came in this month. This month’s bag is called Beauty Rock. This isn’t my preferred style of a bag but it’s still cute.
Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil Travel Size
It’s unfair to put this pencil in my Ipsy bag because no pencil can beat my favorite black drugstore Rimmel Scandal Eyes pencil haha. I’ve swatched the Urban Decay pencil, it’s a little dry, I was not impressed but I will give it a try.
Sexy Hair Root Pump Volumizing Spray Mousse
I only use mousse when I have cornrows or curly weaves/wigs. I never use it in my natural hair and I do not plan on using mousse in my natural hair. I am rocking a straight wig right now so I do not have much use for the mousse but I always like to have mousse in my collection for when I need it.
Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm
Long story short, I put this on my lips, it was dry and I did not care for the color. A few hours later I had a bump on my lip so I threw away the product. This lip balm was not for me haha.
City Color White Gold Shadow & Highlight Mousse
This color is truly pretty. It really is a white gold shadow. However, this product did not flatter me when I put it on my eyelids or cheek area. I might try it as a body highlighter.
Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion
I haven’t tried this yet, but I am always done to try out a new facial scrub! Bring on the scrubs!
Overall:
This month’s Ipsy bag was nothing to write home about. I think the only two products that interest me are the black pencil and facial scrub. This bag was just “ehh” for me this month. Overall, I would give the bag a solid C+. I plan on using all the products but I do not see myself incorporating any of them into my beauty regimen. The total cost of the items inside the bag: is about $45.
